For those who have been salivating to play it, I have had the rare chance of finding one at an arcade nearby my current duty station in San Diego, CA. It is definitely an interesting concept of music games as we know it. It's pretty much taking a Nintendo DS and making it bigger with only a music game to play.
As everyone already knows, there are two screens to the Technika cabinet. One overhead screen for spectators to watch as the player uses a sensitive touch screen to play. The game itself is simple, touch the "note" when the orange bar goes from left to right. Sound easy? The only stipulation to the game screen is the horizontal split right in the middle of the screen. With that taken into account, the orange bar starts on the top left and ends on the bottom left and cycles like so throughout the song.
The game play is a little bit difficult to grasp at first, the training stage definitely helps when you start out (but that's always a given). When you play the actual game, it's kind of like playing DDR on beginner; however, the easiest chart is a 3. While 3's are not difficult, 5's and on start getting progressively difficult like every other game.
DJMAX Technika brings alot of songs from the DJMAX franchise. Songs include (but obviously not limited to): Blythe, Ladymade Star, Oblivion, and SiN. While the song selection is vast, depending on the difficulty you play will depend on the songs displayed when you first start your game.
While, DJMAX Technika is fun, I personally think it would be great if it were two player.
Just so I don't get blasted with a ton of criticism (while it is much appreciated), in all actuality, this is my first "review" of sorts. Anyone who truly knows me, knows my reviews are better when they are verbally given. In any case, I hope this will suffice for now.
